Wow, what a whirlwind few weeks it’s been for us! Having opened our doors at The Brewery Quarter about a month ago now, we’ve finally had a few minutes to take a deep breath and look back at what an amazing launch we had.
On 12 October we had a sneak peek VIP Taster Evening for local press and some of Cheltenham’s fabulous blogger community. With cocktails flowing and plenty of delicious tasters, a great time was had by all. We had some really positive feedback from those in attendance including local blogger, Katie Charlotte, who said “Not only is Babel the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant in the Brewery (dare I say, Cheltenham?), the food and cocktails surpassed every expectation.”
Our spirits high from a great Taster Evening, we were back the next day to prepare for the main event: our VIP Launch Party. An invite-only pre-opening event, we were joined by The Mayor of Cheltenham and local MP Alex Chalk, a cross section of local business leaders, a few of our friends from The Brewery Quarter, some of our stakeholders and suppliers, our social media competition winners and a few Cheltonians who were just so keen to be at our Launch Party that we simply couldn’t turn them away. As the night went on we decided to open our doors to the public and, well, thank you for the warm welcome Cheltenham! We partied the night away with you until the early hours and could not have asked for a better launch (followed by a busy opening weekend).
Miss Milkshake, one half of a blogger power couple with Burger Lad joined us at the VIP Launch Party and had this to say: “The venue is stunning, the food is wonderful and the staff are lovely. I’m looking forward to going back […] and having another Songbird cocktail.”
We had great fun working with The Breeze Radio on a weeklong launch competition that saw Craig Wright giving away a prize a day from weekend brunch (with bubbles of course) to an indulgent three course dinner for two. It’s been a busy few weeks since then and we have loved getting to know the people of Cheltenham and taking our place in the bustling town centre.
For us, Babel is about providing a sleek yet relaxed informal space, a melting pot for communities to come together and enjoy great food, wine and cocktails. We’re serving up food for the epicurean: always delicious and sometimes (but never always) indulgent. We think that freshly produced food goes perfectly with a cocktail (or two) and we’ve taken a global approach to this with our modern riffs on much loved classics plus an eclectic mix of new favourites.
We’re thrilled to be here and can’t wait to welcome you for a quick bite, business lunch, coffee date, evening out or lazy weekend brunch very soon.
