Babel shortlisted for Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub Awards 2018

Break out cocktail bar and dining brand, Babel, has been shortlisted in two categories for the upcoming Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub Awards 2018. The announcement was made less than two months since the opening of their flagship venue in Cheltenham’s Brewery Quarter and ahead of the brand’s first international venue set to open in Oslo, Norway within the first quarter of 2018. A third UK venue is planned for Norwich by Spring 2018 as well as a brand update and refurbishment of the original Babel venue in London’s Clapham Junction.

Babel Cheltenham, described as a sleek yet relaxed and informal space, a cultural melting pot for communities to come together, has been shortlisted for the Best New Casual Dining Concept of the Year alongside some stiff competition. The Babel concept pairs a premium cocktail and bar offering with a high quality freshly produced all day menu. The cocktail menu takes inspiration from the different languages of bartending with Babel’s “global riffs” on classic cocktails as well as some new creations.

The brand has also been shortlisted for the Menu Innovation Award for their modern menu that aims to strike a balance between healthy, wholesome dishes and those that are heartier and more decadent  giving diners a conscious choice. The menu is split into several sections that contrast healthier options like the pickled beetroot, edamame, whipped goats cheese, roasted pecans, quinoa and micro green salad with Babel’s modern take on classics such as the Caesar Club Sandwich and Big Beef Burger. Open from 9am on weekends and from 11am on weekdays, Babel Cheltenham provides an all day dining experience from brunch through to lunch and on to dinner with “small or light” options to be snacked on at any time in between.

Steve Cox, Managing Director of Babel, said: “Babel is a brand very close to my heart with my first pub in London having been the first to carry the Babel name some 15 years ago. Although the brand concept has been completely revamped and relaunched this year, Babel has retained its essence as a space where people can come together to enjoy great food, wine and cocktails with friends.

The success of any brand is dependent on a tremendous amount of teamwork and I am so proud of the fantastic job that the Babel Team has done over the past 12 months. To have been shortlisted for these awards so soon after launching the new Babel brand is a great honour and one that I share with all of the amazing people involved. Here’s to the team and to Babel – Oslo and beyond!”
